Chef Line

Last night we had a birthday celebration for my best friend Keith at the Sun Tavern in Duxbury, MA. Fantastic restaurant and amazing food from the open kitchen as shown in the sketch below. This is a studio  sketch from a photo taken on site. Adding believable people to my sketches is something that will make urban sketching more real.. I usually avoid showing people in my sketches in that I am not comfortable in rendering them. Over the next couple of weeks I will be working on improving my people sketching skills with the help of 2 great resources. The first is a great book “The Urban Sketching Handbook: People and Motion: Tips and Techniques for Drawing on Location” by Gabriel Campanario. The second resource is an online course through Craftsy.com – Sketching People in Motion by Marc Taro Holmes. I am looking forward to the challenge.
