The fall leaves in New England are so beautiful and varied. These are on the edge of our driveway and have gone from green, to yellow and now are starting to turn a rust color. This tree actually keeps it’s leaves all winter and they fall off when the new growth starts to emerge. Another image from our travels through Watsonville and all of the strawberries. As long as I can remember, strawberry boxes always were from Watsonville, California. Even better when super fresh. The Sea Roses along the shore are so fragrant this time of year. They seem to bloom most of the summer. But in the early fall, when everything else starts to fade away, the roses seem to flourish. Holbein watercolors in a Stillman and Birn Beta Sketchbook.

A quick ink sketch of Falmouth Heights from near the Yacht Club in Falmouth, Massachusetts. It was a beautiful day to sit on the rocks of the jetty and sketch. Pilot Falcon fountain pen with Noodler’s Bulletproof black ink in a Stillman and Birn sketchbook.

A quick watercolor of a yellow flower in our back yard. Not sure what it even is. It is a single stalk growing where I do not think I would have planted it. It is very pretty and short lived. Daniel Smith and Holbein watercolors in a Stillman and Birn sketchbook.

A beautiful dinner at the Rye Tavern in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Dining Al Fresco under the stars. There were a number of these lanterns hanging in the trees and mini lights wrapped around the trunks. A beautiful evening with dear friends a their new beach cottage. Overlooking Little Harbor in Wareham, Massachusetts. A wonderful unobstructed view of the marsh and bay beyond. Pilot Falcon fountain pen with Noodler’s Bulletproof black ink and Holbein watercolors in a Stillman and Birn sketchbook.

American Pokeweed is a herbaceous perennial plant in the pokeweed family growing up to 8 feet in height. It is native to the eastern United States and has significant toxicity. It has simple leaves on green to red or purplish stems and a large white taproot. The flowers are green to white, followed by purple to almost black berries which are a food source for songbirds as well as other birds and some small animals. This Pokeweed is in front of our house in the perennial garden. I grows wild in New England and this started growing and comes back every year. It is a nice looking plant that takes over the bed late in the season. This year the Tropical Storm bent it down and it took other perennials with it. This may be the last year in our garden for it in that is so large and I have to cut the staining berries off of it.
