Take me out to the Ballpark

Nothing is more American than going to a baseball game during the Independence Day weekend. Today we went to historic Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts, home to the Boston Red Sox. A beautiful summer day and a great game between the Red Sox and the Los Angeles Angels (my team growing up). Fenway Park was built in 1912 and is one of the last historic ballparks in the United States. This sketch was completed using a series of 3 photographs that I took during the game. Faber Castell Pitt Art pens with Holbein watercolors in a 8″ x 5″ Moleskine watercolor book across both pages.

North Hempstead Country Club

A quick sketch of a dormer on North Hempstead Country Club in Port Washington, New York on Long Island. This is the next Master Plan that I am working on and this sketch was completed from the car while waiting for a meeting. Orleans Garden Tour

Today we spent part of the day enjoying a tour of 6 home gardens hosted by the Orleans Garden Club in Orleans, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. The gardens were gorgeous with all of the blooming flowers and lush greens. This view is from a house with 5 acres of woods planted with shade loving plants and a barn that overlooked this small pond. Wonderful afternoon enjoying nature and listening to some wonderful music at each location. Faber Castell Pitt art pens with Holbein watercolors in a Stillman and Birn sketchbook.

Milford Boatworks

Traveling back from New York from another club presentation, I stopped in Milford Connecticut. There is a wonderful waterfront with lots of marinas and boats. This is a quick pen and ink sketch from the car of a small out building at the Milford Boatworks. Lamy Safari fountain pen with Noodler’s black ink in a Stillman and Birn sketchbook.

Little Neck Shoreline

A beautiful part of the coastline in Little Neck, New York. This is actually in the borough of Queens in New York City. A peaceful oasis within the city. This caught my eye with the undulating seawall and the contrast between the bright green grass and the very dark rocks. Osteria La Civetta

Dinner tonight at the Osteria La Civetta on Main Street in Falmouth, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. A wonderful Italian restaurant with the feel of a small café in Italy. Family owned and wonderful food. Pilot Falcon fountain pen with Noodler’s Black ink and Holbein watercolors in a Stillman and Birn sketchbook.

Fishing Boat

This fishing boar pulled into the dock in Falmouth Harbor in Cape Cod when we were waiting to go to dinner. The boat pulled in and unloaded to a waiting truck (The Clam Man) and was heading back out to sea in about 5 minutes. I love working boats and this was a quick sketch using my Lamy fountain pen with Noodler’s black ink in a Stillman and Birn sketchbook.

The Pearl

Dinner at the Pearl on Wellfleet Harbor. Pearl’s building is a unique combination of old historical Cape Cod meets modern restaurant design. The heart of the structure is the peaked roof, visible over the open air kitchen. This structure was the original A frame of the famous Spit & Chatter Club which initially sat across Commercial St. from the current location. It was moved to the current site and redesigned into the well known Captain Higgins restaurant. Pearl’s design enclosed the peak from the outside, while leaving it visible when viewing up from around or in the new open kitchen.
