Wareham Boosters

A design concept for a simple replacement structure for the Wareham Boosters Snack and Ticket Stand at the football field in Wareham, Massachusetts. The boosters are looking to raise money and secure a grant for rebuilding this area. This quick study will be cleaned up and used for a presentation to the city. Phlox

Phlox is Greek for the work “flame” and is a genus of 67 species of perennial or annual flowering plants in the family. They are found mostly in North America in diverse habitats from alpine tundra to open woodland and prairie. Some flower in spring, others in summer and fall. Flowers may be pale blue, violet, pink, bright red, or white. We have both the ground cover variety that bloom in early Spring and the tall vertical type that is blooming now as shown in the sketch. Life Guard Tower

Picture perfect day at Nauset Beach in Orleans on Cape Cod. Everyone is taking advantage of the beautiful weather. The water is very refreshing with small waves. This is a black and white sketch of the Life Guard Tower across from the main access point. The background was a blur of color from the people and umbrellas, but I did not have time to complete the color. Sixth Precinct

This was a great little structure located in the parking lot of the Americana Manhasset Mall in Manhasset, New York. I assume it was for the local police department that patrols the mall. Manhasset Congregation Church

The Congregational Church of Manhasset, has a history that dates back to its organization in the fall of 1939. Groundbreaking ceremonies for this structure were held in May, 1948, and the cornerstone was laid on October 24.  Dedication of the building followed on June 12 of 1949. I was drawn to this building by the interesting and modern Bell Tower. I sketched this from the coolness of my car in between meetings on a very hot day. Fort Hill

One of the best views on the outer cap is at Fort Hill which is part of The National Seashore which is part of the United States National Park system. Fort Hill is adjacent to the Penniman House, a historical whalers house built in 1868. The view is beautiful of the marshes, barrier islands and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. In the springtime, the fields are bursting with color from the great variety of wild flowers. Today there were pink Sea Roses and white Yarrow. The green of the marsh is really this vibrant with the darker blue water. Holbein watercolors in a Stillman and Birn Beta sketchbook.
