Artichoke

Traveling from San Francisco airport to Carmel, we pass through Watsonville, California. This is part of the bread basket of America and you can tell by the miles and mile of vegetable fields as far as the eye can see. The Artichoke plants were beautiful and the Artichokes are almost ready for picking. Roma Tomatoes

Roma Tomato a plum tomato popularly used both for canning and producing tomato paste because of their slender and firm nature. Commonly found, Roma tomatoes are also known as Italian tomatoes or Italian Plum Tomatoes. Roma tomatoes are egg or pear shaped and red when fully ripe. They have fewer seeds than other varieties which make them good for sauces. This sketch is of 3 tomatoes that varied in color from a very light green to a ripe red/orange. Fink Weekend

The start of a great weekend with some of my college friends in town from the Washington D.C. area. Our class at Oklahoma State University School of Architecture was affectionately known as the Finks. Dinner tonight is at our favorite restaurant, The Blue Eyed Crab in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
