Farmall Tractor

A sketch of a Farmall Tractor at a local nursery. Farmall was a model name and later a brand name for tractors manufactured by the American company International Harvester. Farmalls were general-purpose tractors. Their origins were as row-crop tractors, a category that they helped establish and in which they long held a large market share. During the decades of Farmall production (1920s to 1970s), most Farmalls were built for row-crop work. Most Farmalls were all-purpose tractors that were affordable for small to medium-sized family farms and could do enough of the tasks needed on the farm that the need for hired hands was reduced and the need for horses or mules was eliminated. Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is an American history museum and hall of fame, located in Springfield, Massachusetts. It serves as the sport’s most complete library, in addition to promoting and preserving the history of basketball and is dedicated to Canadian-American doctor and inventor of the sport James Naismith. In 2002, the Basketball Hall of Fame moved into a $47 million facility designed by architects Gwathmey Siegal and Associates. The building’s architecture features a metallic silver, basketball-shaped sphere flanked by two similarly symmetrical rhombuses. Quick sketch from a photo taken in the car stopped in traffic on the highway on the way to a presentation. Faber-Castell Pitt pens with Utrecht watercolors in a Stillman and Birn Sketchbook.

The Blue Eyed Crab

What a great way to end May and bring in summer than with a sketch of our favorite restaurant, the Blue Eyed Crab in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Such a wonderful restaurant with amazing seafood, great location, wonderful staff and a Fantastic Chef/Owner, Jim Casey in the Kitchen. I was able to spend this morning at the “Crab” as they were filming a segment of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives for the Food network. We deserved recognition. Eastham Windmill

The Eastham Windmill, located in Eastham, Massachusetts, is the oldest windmill on Cape Cod. It was constructed by Eastham resident Thomas Paine in Plymouth in 1680. It was first moved to nearby Truro in 1770, then finally to Eastham in 1793. In 1808 the windmill was moved to its present location, near the Eastham Town Hall and the Eastham Public Library. Eastham Windmill, as part of the Eastham Center Historic District, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. Possible future painting. Brick Alley Pub

The Brick Alley Pub is located on the cobblestone covered Thames Street in Newport, Rhode Island. After more than 30 years as one of Rhode Island’s most popular restaurants with locals and tourists alike, the Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant has earned landmark status. Along with being a great restaurant, the distinctive yellow stripe awnings make for a great sketch. Pelikan watercolors and Pitt black pens in an Alpha Series Stillman and Birn Sketchbook.

Hero

This little colorful boat named Hero was tied up to a float in the Herring River in West Harwich, Massachusetts. The contrast between the red boat and the light blue of the water and the variety of greens in the marsh beyond was very interesting. The Beachcomber

A sure sign of summer is first pilgrimage to Wellfleet Massachusetts to visit one of our favorite places – The Beachcomber. The Comaah, as locally referred to, sits on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in the beautiful National Seashore. Most of the time it is standing room only and is frequented by an eclectic mix of young and old, beachgoers, locals and visitors. We were able to luck into 2 bar seats for some adult beverages and shrimp and Wellfleet oysters from the Raw Bar. So much fun.
