The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Middleboro opened for services on October 26, 1890. In the early 1900s David Pratt gifted us a more central and visible parcel of land on Main Street next to the Town Hall. The church building was cut into three pieces, then pulled by oxen through the streets, and remounted on its current stone foundation with a new porch in 1907. Las Olas Street
One more sketch from Florida before returning home where Spring still does not want to arrive. Las Olas Street in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is a wonderful walking street with shops, restaurants and great people watching. This is a small Spanish tower on the corner of one of the side streets. With the stucco and tile architecture, I felt that the Terra Cotta color sketch would suit the architecture best. Faber-Castell Sanguine Pitt Art Pens in a Alpha Series Stillman and Birn Sketchbook.

Spring Equinox?
According to the sun and the stars, this is the first day of Spring. With snow in the forecast again and the piles of snow in around the Sharon View Nursery in Sharon, Massachusetts, I am not sure that Mother Nature wants Spring to arrive yet. 40 minutes, Faber-Castell Art Pens in an Alpha Series Stillman and Birn Sketchbook.
Waiting for Spring
This sketch is based on a photograph taken last week at Soltice Restaurant in Kingston, MA. The Adirondack chairs and old luggage cart appear as if they are waiting for the snow to melt and Spring to arrive along the tracks. This train station was built in 1889 for the Old Colony Railroad. There was passenger service to this station (mostly for the New York, New Haven & Hartford RR, which took over this line in 1893) until 1959. Penny Pinchers Exchange
The Penny Pinchers Exchange is a consignment shop in Marion, Massachusetts that raises money for the First Congregational Church in Marion. In 1885 Elizabeth Taber gave the church the Chapel Building located just up the street from the church. The building was used for Sunday School and Prayer Meetings prior to it’s current use.Faber-Castell Pitt artist pens in an 8″ x 10″ Alpha Series Stillman and Birn Sketchbook.
Skeeter
This is a watercolor from a photograph that I snapped over the weekend. Skeeter was a small sailboat undercover in a boatyard in Marion, MA. The colors of Skeeter were a stark contrast to the larger, more monochromatic boats in the background. Watercolor with a pencil sketch under. Once again, I need to learn when to stop in the process. In this case I added the extra ink work that was not needed. Daniel Smith Watercolors, White Charcoal Pencil in an Alpha Series Stillman and Birn Sketchbook.
Greek Dinner
Great Birthday Dinner for my wife Lisa and her Dad John. Both March babies. We enjoyed a fantastic Greek Dinner at Estia Taverna in Mashpee Commons, MA. A quick sketch of the coal fired oven at the restaurant. Lamy Fountain Pen with Noodlers Ink and Daniel Smith Watercolors in an Alpha Series Stillman and Birn Sketchbook.
“For bells are the voice of the church; They have tones that touch and search The hearts of young and old.” — Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Pen and Ink sketch of Saint Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Marion. MA. The current Chapel was consecrated in 1900. The patron saints name is said to have originated in a storm at sea, when Admiral Harwood called upon the Angel Gabriel for deliverance. He promised to build a church in Marion, which subsequently became St. Gabriel’s. Pigma Micron Black Pens in a Stillman and Birn Alpha Series Sketchbook.
