Herridge Books

Herridge Books is located just out of the center of the small village of Wellfleet, Massachusetts. The Bookstore is in a small building and is the perfect store for a town that has been host to so many writers. This was sketched from a photo taken at dusk. The lighting was beautiful and how it made the façade glow. I did not even know how to capture that, so I did not try. Black Pitt Art Pens, Holbein watercolors in a Stillman and Birn Sketchbook.

Trump National Bedminster

A fantastic day to play in a golf tournament at Trump National Bedminster, New Jersey. The Country Club in the former estate of John DeLorean of Automotive fame. Donald Trump bought the 434 estate in estate in 2000 and developed a PGA quality country club and course designed by Tom Fazio. This image is of the former horse stables. P.F. Chang’s

Great dinner at P. F. Chang’s Chinese Bistro. At all their locations they have these great sculptures of Chinese War Horses. Horses in East Asian warfare are inextricably linked with the strategic and tactical evolution of armed conflict. A warrior on horseback or horse-drawn chariot changed the balance of power between civilizations. Watercolors with black art pens in an Alpha Series Stillman and Birn sketchbook.

Fruit Vendor

New York City is such a vibrant and colorful atmosphere. I just love the street vendors, especially the fruit vendors that bring color and life into the city. The Green Vendors, with the support of city government, immigrants from all over the world sell healthy food on the streets in low-income neighborhoods to not only tackle the urban food crisis in areas bereft of nutritious fare but also in the hopes of providing a better life for their children. Upper East Side – NYC

In the great New York City for a kick-off of a new restaurant project. The Upper East Side is a lower and smaller scale than the very tall skyscrapers of Mid-town and Lower Manhattan. This view is of the layers of buildings near the corner of 2nd Avenue and 78th Street. I do not really catch the depth and detail as well as I wished. Eel Pond Canal

This is a sketch from a photo that I snapped last weekend in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. The location is the small canal that connects Great Harbor to Eel Pond. The Eel Pond Draw Bridge is used to allow Water Street to cross the canal and is located in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
The drawbridge was rebuilt during the winter of 2008-2009. I chose to make a tonal study of this sketch. Faber-Castel Pit Art pens in Black and shades of Grey in a 9 x 12 Alpha Series Stillman and Birn Sketchbook.

Milford Memorial Bridge

Traveling back from New Jersey today, I stopped in Milford Connecticut on a recommendation that there was some great architecture in town. This is a sketch of the North Coping Tower. Milford honors its founders and Native Americans with the 1889 bridge on the site of the city’s first mill. The Memorial Bridge, across the Wepawaug River along today’s New Haven Avenue, was built as part of Milford’s 250th anniversary celebration. The bridge features a tower and 29 stones inscribed with the names of local settlers, as well as an eclectic collection of local artifacts. Faber-Castell Pitt pens with a combination of watercolors in a Stillman and Birn Alpha Series sketchbook.

“I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.” – Groucho Marx

This is the view siting on the Overlook Terrace today between meetings at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey. It is the most idyllic setting with the beautiful manicured greens and fairways and all of the old growth trees. The pool is off to the left and in the evening, members relax in the Adirondack Chairs adjacent to the practice green. Ridgewood Country Club

Another day in New Jersey for work. This is another view of the front façade of Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey. The club is beautiful and has just been listed on the National Registry of Historic places along with all 27 golf holes. The original structure was designed by architect Clifford Wendehack and the golf course was designed by Albert Warren Tillinghast, the preeminent golf architect of the 1920s.
