Window Box Pepper

Early Spring is when we plant our window boxes in anticipation of the colorful blooms throughout the season. Typically we plant a pepper plant in the center of each box for color. interest and possible harvest. Now that we are heading into fall, the pepper plans are peaking with their foliage, color and peppers. This is a red sweet pepper from one of the boxes that will picked soon and grilled as part of a beautiful dinner, Faber-Castell Pitt pen with Holbein watercolors in a Stillman and Birn sketchbook.

American Lobster

A quick sketch tonight before dinner. The American Lobster, Homarus americanus, is a species of lobster found on the Atlantic Coast of North America from Labrador to New Jersey. It is also known as True Lobster or Maine Lobster. It can reach a body length of 25 inches, and a weight of over 44 pounds, making it the heaviest crustacean in the world. American lobsters are usually bluish green to brown with red spines, but a number of color variations have been observed. Garden Tomatoes

Our first full size tomatoes of the year. Our tomato plants are in pots on our front porch and these 2 beauties are “Jet Star” variety. Enjoying the garden tonight, savoring some nice wine while grilling salmon and a small lobster tail. Great evening. Holbein and Mission watercolors in a 5″ x 8″ Moleskine watercolor book.

Fruit Vendor

New York City is such a vibrant and colorful atmosphere. I just love the street vendors, especially the fruit vendors that bring color and life into the city. The Green Vendors, with the support of city government, immigrants from all over the world sell healthy food on the streets in low-income neighborhoods to not only tackle the urban food crisis in areas bereft of nutritious fare but also in the hopes of providing a better life for their children. The Blue Eyed Crab

What a great way to end May and bring in summer than with a sketch of our favorite restaurant, the Blue Eyed Crab in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Such a wonderful restaurant with amazing seafood, great location, wonderful staff and a Fantastic Chef/Owner, Jim Casey in the Kitchen. I was able to spend this morning at the “Crab” as they were filming a segment of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives for the Food network. We deserved recognition.
